Unchanging

So the other night, I volunteered to put a worship thought together for a few close friends. We are all going on a mission trip to Africa and/or Costa Rica this summer, so we've just been trying to prepare ourselves by getting closer to each other and, most importantly, to God.

In one portion of the worship, I had everyone share who God is to them by completing the sentence, "God is/God is my..." Best Friend, Personal Cheerleader, and Provider are just a few of the titles that were mentioned that night. What was my answer...?? God is UNCHANGING! I'm SOO thankful for that!

I found a quote somewhere that says, "Change is certain, but it's never easy." This is so very true. Friends change up. You may change directions when it comes to your academics or your career. Perhaps you even change up on God. Things change. People change. I'm just glad that we can be at peace knowing that regardless of what's going on around us, He remains the same; He's unchanging. That brings me an immense amount of joy.

So if you're someone like me who isn't a fan of change, remember Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8! (Go read em!) =)

Just You Wait

Hey Specktators!! This video doesn't need too much of an introduction. It may seem like this post is strictly for the ladies, but I believe males can appreciate it just as much. Oh by the way, I usually make it a point to stay away from the world star hip hop site as I believe that it is a place where we African Americans give people more reason to speak about us negatively. But this video is on point, so I HAD to share! Anyway, enjoy. I know I did..Whew! Deep stuff! Oh yeah, be sure to leave your comments and all that. Blessings

Authentic Beauty

What's goin on folks?? It's been quite a while, but I'm back with something lovely (if I do say so myself)! Lol this may seem like a post for the ladies, but really anybody can read (AND COMMENT! Lol).

So over the last two weeks or so, a couple friends and I have had conversations about women and how a lot of them are so consumed with their outward appearance. There are so many factors that almost always damage a female's self-concept. Fashion/fashion magazines, tv, movies, music, and the Internet all display the same message: Beauty is what's on the outside. This stirs up a lot of dissatisfaction in many (or most) females. Sadly, sometimes females don't even notice the effect all this has on them.

So what does it really mean to be beautiful?? It's all about fake hair..plastic surgery..a big butt..false lashes..getting thinner..big breasts..fake nails..make up..accessories..etc....Right??....NEGATIVE!! True beauty comes from within. How the world defines beauty doesn't even come close to what it is in actuality. Check this out....

"Don't be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious." -the Bible {1 Peter 3:3-4 New Living Translation}

Please understand that outward beauty fades with age. Maybe not completely, but it fades nonetheless. Instead of trying to attain beauty that is only temporary, we women must make it our business to become beautiful on the inside. I mean it only makes sense seeing as though that's the kind of beauty that lasts forever.
